Apparel Training & Design Centre

Our center is tucked away in the Thiru Vi Ka Industrial Estate in Guindy. Specifically, we are at No 18/23 in the Readymade Garment Complex. It’s a very industrial area, lots of trucks and workers moving around at all hours. We focus on training people for the garment industry here. There are sewing machines running most of the day, so there’s always a bit of a buzz in the air. The Guindy estate is huge and sometimes people get lost trying to find our specific block. It’s not a shiny new building, but it serves the purpose for what we do. We have students coming in from all over the city to learn how to design and make clothes. The classrooms are simple with big tables for cutting fabric and rows of machines. Sometimes it gets a bit hot in the afternoons, but we have fans going. The canteen nearby is where most of us grab lunch, usually something quick so we can get back to the patterns. Working in an industrial estate means you’re surrounded by people who are actually making things. It feels practical and grounded. We don’t have fancy decorations on the walls, just charts and fabric swatches. It’s a busy place with a lot of hands-on work happening from morning till evening. We just try to make sure everyone leaves with more skills than they started with. That's how it goes at Apparel Training & Design Centre.
