We have been here at No. 15 on 6th Pillaiyar Koil Street for quite some time now. Eakkattuthangal is a busy place, and our shop is right in the middle of it. Most days start early before the sun gets too hot. You can hear the machines running as soon as the shutters go up. People walk by on their way to work, and sometimes they stop to peek in. We just focus on what we have to do. The street can get crowded with vehicles, especially in the afternoons. It’s a bit dusty, but that is just how it is around here. Apex Engineering Company isn't a fancy office with glass walls or anything like that. We have heavy tools and metal parts lying around most of the time. Sometimes the fans don't keep it cool enough, so we drink a lot of tea. The neighbors know us well by now. We’ve seen the street change over the years, new buildings going up and old ones getting repainted. It’s just regular work for us. No one wears suits here. We get grease on our hands and stay until the job is done. If the power goes out, we wait it out or use the small generator. It’s a simple setup but it works for what we need to get through the day. Sometimes the rain floods the corner of the street, making it hard to get deliveries in, but we manage. We just keep things moving.
