Being at 14, Gandhi Nagar means we see a lot of the same faces every single day. We started this because we wanted something local and simple to do. The shop isn't huge, so you have to watch your step around the crates and the heavy sacks of beans we keep near the entrance. Most days it’s just us handling the roasting and the packing while people wait at the door. We don’t have a big sign or anything flashy to bring people in. Usually, folks just know we’re here because they live nearby or their parents used to buy from us years ago. The weather gets really hot in the afternoons and the shop stays warm because of the equipment, but we just keep the fans going and get on with the work. We handle a lot of beans throughout the week and the floor always ends up covered in little bits of husks by the time we close. It's a lot of manual work, lifting heavy sacks and making sure everything is sealed up right so the air doesn't get in and ruin the roast. We don't spend much time on decorating or making things look perfect for photos. It’s just a place to get coffee. We like the quiet hours when the street isn't too noisy and we can just focus on the beans. It’s a good way to earn a living here.
