Adhira Farmers Producer Company Limited

We started Adhira Farmers Producer Company Limited because a few of us here in Mazavarayanursirumadurai Post needed a better way to get things done. You can find us right on Middle Street, which is where most of our daily life happens anyway. It isn’t some big fancy office with glass doors. It is just a place where farmers from around the area come to talk about what’s growing and what we need for the next season. Some days are really busy, especially when the weather is changing and everyone is worried about their crops. We try to help out with the seeds and tools. It’s mostly just neighbors working with neighbors. We didn't really have a big plan at first, just a bunch of people who knew how to farm but didn't know how to deal with the bigger markets on their own. Now we sit together on Middle Street and figure it out. It is hard work and sometimes the rain doesn't come when it should, which makes things stressful for everyone involved. But being a group makes it a bit easier to handle those bad times. We don’t really do fancy meetings, we just talk over tea and see what needs fixing. If you walk down our street, you’ll probably see someone from the company just hanging around or loading up some bags. It’s a simple setup we’ve got here, and we just keep at it day after day.
