Architect Snigdha K Kamal

I have my architecture workspace in Zirakpur, specifically in Phase 10 near the Sarao Hotel. Zirakpur has grown so much lately, and there are new buildings popping up on every corner, which keeps things interesting for me. My days are usually a mix of sitting at a large drawing table and visiting construction sites where things can get pretty dusty and loud. The office isn't a high-end studio like you might see in magazines. It’s just a practical room with enough space for my blueprints and a computer that gets the job done. I don't use any corporate jargon or talk about big visions. I just look at how a building should stand and how people are going to use the rooms inside. Being near the Sarao Hotel is convenient because most people in the area know where it is. I spend a lot of time on the road between Zirakpur and Chandigarh checking on various projects. It can be a bit exhausting when the traffic is bad or the weather is really hot, but that is part of being an architect here. Most of my work comes from local people who have seen what I do and decided to give me a call. I just try to make sure everything is built correctly and that the people who end up living there are comfortable. It’s a lot of work but I like it.
