You can find Nilachal Manufacturers right in the middle of Paharganj. We are at 219, General Market, which is just opposite the old Khanna Cinema. It’s a very busy spot. There are tourists, rickshaws, and cows all sharing the same street outside our door. Inside, we try to keep things a bit more organized, but it’s hard when you’re manufacturing things in such a crowded area. We’ve been here for a long time, watching the cinema change and the market grow even more packed. Our workspace is filled with the tools of our trade and the smell of raw materials. We don't have a showroom with bright lights. Most people just find us by word of mouth or by wandering into the market. It can be quite chaotic during the festival seasons when the streets are blocked, but we still manage to get our work done. We drink a lot of tea and talk to the neighbors while we work. It’s a very local way of doing things. We don’t use any complicated systems; we just write things down and make sure the items are produced properly. The walls have a bit of peeling paint and the furniture is old, but it’s a comfortable place for us. We are just a group of people making things in a very busy part of Delhi.
