Ishan Cottage Emporium is tucked away in Rahul Apartments, specifically at 24/24 on Ansari Road. If you know Darya Ganj, you know how packed those streets can get, especially with all the book markets around. Our place is more of a quiet corner compared to the main road. It is located inside an apartment building, so it feels a bit more personal than a typical storefront. We have been here for a good number of years now. The rooms are filled with all sorts of things we've collected over time. Sometimes it feels a bit cramped with all the inventory, but we know where everything is. Most people find us through word of mouth or because they were already in the neighborhood for something else. We don’t have a big flashy entrance. You just come into the building and find our unit. The lighting isn't always perfect and the elevator in the building can be a bit temperamental, so many of us just take the stairs. It’s a lived-in space. We spend our days answering calls, packing up orders, and talking to whoever drops by. Darya Ganj has a lot of history, and being on Ansari Road makes us feel like we’re part of that old Delhi fabric. We aren't trying to be a big fancy showroom. It's just us doing our thing in a space that works for us. We often keep the windows open for a breeze.
