Manshu Handloom

Manshu Handloom is located over in Vasant Kunj 101. It’s not a huge showroom or anything like that. We’ve got our looms and our threads all packed into the space. Sometimes it feels a little cramped when we have a lot of material coming in, but we make it work. The light in the morning is the best time to see the colors of the fabric. We spend a lot of time just sitting and working the machines. It’s repetitive work, but there is something nice about seeing a piece of cloth get finished. We don’t have a secretary or anyone to answer the phones, so if we’re busy with a weave, it might take a minute to get to the door. Our neighbors in Vasant Kunj are used to the sounds coming from our unit. We try not to be too loud late at night. The place smells like cotton and a bit of machine oil, which is just how it is. We don't use fancy packaging. Most things just get wrapped in plain paper or tucked into a bag. It’s about the work, not the presentation. We’ve been at 101 for a while now and don't plan on moving. It’s a good little corner for what we do. We just keep our heads down and keep the shuttles moving. It’s a simple way to make a living and we’re okay with that. The tea here is good too. It helps us stay awake during the long afternoons.
