India Emporium

India Emporium is at 882 East Park Road. You have to look for the basement because that is where we are. We are right opposite Ajmal Khan Park in the Karol Bagh area. Being in the basement means we don't have windows to look out of, but we can hear the noise from the park across the street. We hear kids shouting and the traffic on East Park Road all day. Karol Bagh is a very busy place to be. We spend our time under the lights, sorting through the items we have in stock. It can get a bit stuffy down here, so we try to keep the fans going. We have to walk up and down the basement stairs many times a day to handle deliveries. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and moving things around in a small space. We keep the shelves as organized as we can. People sometimes walk right past the entrance because it’s below the street level. We just keep the sign clear so they can find us. We’ve been at 882 for a good while. It’s a practical spot for us even if it’s a bit hidden. We show up, do the chores, and wait for customers to come down the steps. It’s just a typical day in a Karol Bagh basement. We don't make a big deal out of it. We just do the job that needs doing.
