Imi Aliyah Authentic Kashmiri Collections

Imi Aliyah Authentic Kashmiri Collections is our shop over in the Dda Market at New Rajinder Nagar. We are at number 17 on the upper ground floor. If you know this market, you know it gets quite busy in the afternoons when everyone is out doing their errands. Our space is filled with stacks of fabrics and shawls that we get from back home. It can get a bit crowded when a few people come in at once because there is stuff everywhere. We try to keep things organized, but sometimes the piles just grow. Most of the day is spent showing different colors and patterns to people who live in the neighborhood. We don't do much advertising; mostly it’s just people walking by or someone telling their neighbor about a piece they bought. It’s a small family setup. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the next delivery to show up from the weavers. The lighting in the shop could be better, but it shows the embroidery well enough. New Rajinder Nagar has changed a lot over the years, but this market still has that old feeling where everyone knows each other's names. We are usually here from ten in the morning until the market shuts down at night. It’s hard work moving the heavy boxes around, but we are used to it by now. It feels good to have these things around us every day.
