Hindustan Metal Co. sits at 633/1, Upper Anand Parbat. We are right near the M C D School, so every afternoon we hear the kids shouting and playing when they get let out of class. It’s a bit of a landmark for people trying to find us, because these streets in Anand Parbat are narrow and can be quite confusing if you aren't from around here. We deal in metals. It’s heavy, dirty work. Our space is packed with different types of metal stock, from pipes to flat sheets, and there isn't much room to move around once a shipment comes in. We’ve been in this spot for a long time. The walls are stained with years of dust and the floor is scarred from dragging heavy loads across it. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It's just a few of us who know how to handle the materials and get the orders ready. Sometimes the rain leaks in through the roof, and we have to scramble to cover the stock, but we manage. People stop by, ask for what they need, and we pull it out from the stacks. It’s a very local way of doing things. We know the other shop owners on the street, and we all look out for each other. It’s a noisy, busy place but it’s home for us during the workday.
