Raja Brick Field

We are set up in Vill-Bhaturia, which is under the Chakbamangaria post office. It’s part of the Nadanghat area. Raja Brick Field isn’t a fancy place by any means. It’s just a stretch of land where we work with the soil and the heat. Every morning we check the kilns and see how the fire is doing. It takes a lot of patience to get everything right. We have a few families who have been working with us for a long time now. They know the rhythm of the work better than anyone. The district can get quite humid, so we try to take things slow during the middle of the day. There’s a lot of mud and smoke, so it’s not the cleanest place to spend your time, but it’s what we do. We don't really have a big team of managers. It's mostly just us and the workers figuring things out as we go. When the trucks come to load up, things get pretty loud and busy for a few hours. Then it goes back to being quiet again. We’ve lived in this area for years, so we know the land well. It’s just honest work. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t. If you come by, you’ll probably find us near the back of the field checking the stacks. That is just how life is for us here.
