About Mico Ash Bricks – Building & Construction Material in Burdwan
Mico Ash Bricks is located out on Gourangdi, along the Rupnarayanpur Road. It is a quiet stretch of road most of the time, except for when the trucks are moving through. We focus on fly ash bricks because that is what is needed around here lately. The yard is mostly covered in that fine gray dust that comes with the ash. We have a simple setup with a couple of pressing machines and a large area for the bricks to cure under the sprinklers. The water keeps the dust down a little bit, but not entirely. Working on Rupnarayanpur Road means we see a lot of people passing by on their way to the bigger towns. We have a small crew of about ten people. We all do a bit of everything, from operating the press to loading the flatbed trucks. It’s a physical job and your back definitely feels it by the end of the week. We don't have a big corporate structure. It's just us and the machines. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to sit around and wait for it to come back on before we can finish the batch. We use that time to fix the pallets or tidy up the yard. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a fancy office. We just make the bricks and hope the weather stays dry enough for us to keep working. It’s just a regular way to make a living in Gourangdi.
