M. Y. Bricks Industry

M. Y. Bricks Industry is out in the village of Avirampur, right across from the Mandal Nursery. We are in the Ausgram area of Purba Burdwan, which is a bit of a trek if you aren't from around here. It is a quiet place for the most part, except when we have the brick kiln going full tilt. We have been a part of this local village for quite a while now. People around here just know us as a small business trying to get by. We make our bricks right on this land using the soil we have. It is a lot of hard manual labor, from digging to shaping and then firing the bricks in the kiln. The weather really tells us what to do each week. If the rain starts pouring, we have to scramble to cover everything up and wait for it to stop. When it is sunny, we are out there working as hard as we can to get the bricks dried. We don't have a website or do any advertising, people usually just hear about us from their neighbors or see the yard when they go to the nursery. We have a couple of trucks that go out to the nearby towns, but a lot of our customers are just local folks. The yard is always full of stacks of red bricks. It is a messy job, but we are used to it.
