Babakalsen Farmer Producer Company Limited is run out of Rajesh Singh’s place in Kakaraua. This is in the Usahit area of Dataganj, which is part of Budaun. It is a bit of a drive to get here from the main town, and the roads are not always in the best shape, especially after a heavy storm. We are a small group, mostly neighbors and relatives who have been farming these lands for a long time. The company name sounds official, but we are really just a collective of guys who want to sell our crops without getting cheated. We deal with whatever is growing, like peppermint or wheat, and we try to get the best price we can. The office is just a front room with some wooden benches. We don't have any corporate hierarchy. Someone might be the director on paper, but we all end up loading the sacks onto the trucks when the time comes. Budaun is a busy place during harvest, and our little spot in Kakaraua gets quite hectic. We have a lot of long nights when the harvest is being brought in from the fields. We don't have a mission statement or any of those things companies usually have. We just want to make sure the work we do in the fields actually pays off at the end of the year. It’s a basic operation, but it works for us.
