Nari Unnayan Producer Company Limited

Nari Unnayan Producer Company Limited is based out of Kaigara village. We’re in the Birbhum district, which is a place we all care about a lot. Mamani Ghosh is the person we use for our mailing address and she’s a big part of why we stay organized. Our village is Kaigara, and the post office is Brahamanigram, if you’re looking for us on a map. This group was put together by women who wanted to do something for ourselves and our families through local production. We don't have a big corporate office with glass walls; we mostly meet in the village or at Mamani’s place to talk about what we’re making or growing. It’s a real community effort. In Birbhum, things move a bit slower, and we like it that way. We focus on what we can do with our own hands. We aren't trying to sell anyone a dream, we're just trying to make sure the work we do gets recognized and helps us get by. It can be a struggle sometimes to manage the paperwork and the rules, but we do it because it’s better than working alone. Nari Unnayan is really just about the women here in Kaigara coming together. We’ve lived here all our lives, so we know the land and we know each other. That’s the most important thing for us at the end of the day. We hope to keep this going for the next generation too.
