Sabuj Bhabna Mohila Farmers Producer Company Limited is a bit different because it’s a group of women farmers. We are based in Dafarpur, out in the Hooghly area, at Montaj Ali Sekh’s place. The name Sabuj Bhabna means green thoughts, which fits what we do perfectly. We spend our days out in the dirt, growing vegetables and other crops. Being a women-led producer company in a small village like Boharkuli has its own set of challenges, but we’ve managed to keep things moving. We don't have a fancy corporate headquarters. Our meetings usually happen in a small room or out in the courtyard. It’s all very local and down-to-earth. We focus on what we know best, which is the land and the crops that grow here. We help each other out with seeds and advice on how to keep the pests away. It’s not a polished operation with high-tech equipment, but we work hard and we know our stuff. Sometimes the paperwork gets confusing and we have to ask for help, but we’re learning as we go. We aren’t trying to impress anyone with big words or sales pitches. We just want to make a decent living for our families and keep our farms healthy. It’s a lot of sweat and long hours, but doing it together as a group makes it a lot easier. We just keep our heads down and work.
