Nalhati Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our office is at Abdul Alam’s house right in Nalhati. It’s a pretty central spot in the village, easy enough for everyone to get to. We are the Nalhati Farmer Producer Company Limited. It’s really just a collective of us farmers from the local area. We use the room at Abdul’s to store our records and hold our meetings. Usually, we meet up once a week to see how everyone’s crops are doing and if there are any problems with the water or the soil. There’s always someone coming or going, usually with some mud on their boots. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that. If you come by, you just walk in and see who’s around. We spend a lot of time discussing the market and when is the best time to sell our produce. It’s a lot of talking and drinking tea while we look at our notes. The building itself is simple, and we like it that way. We aren't trying to be a big corporation or anything. We just want to work together so we don't get squeezed by the bigger buyers. Sometimes the paperwork gets confusing because of all the new rules, but we help each other out with it. It’s just a group of neighbors trying to make things work. We do the best we can with what we have and keep moving forward. It’s not always easy but having the group makes a big difference for us all in the end.
