Mandalsar is a small place. You won’t find it on most maps, but that’s where we are. Malotipur Farmer'S Producer Companylimited was started because a few of us, including Pintu Biswas, realized we couldn’t keep doing everything on our own. It’s just too hard when the market prices go up and down and you’re just one person with a small plot of land. So, we gathered some of the neighbors and registered this company. We don’t have a fancy office with air conditioning. We mostly meet at Pintu’s place or out in the fields near Kirtipur. Our main thing is just growing what we can and trying to get a fair price for it. We grow rice, some vegetables, whatever the season allows. Sometimes the rain is too much and we lose some crops, but that’s just life here. We share our tools and help each other out with the heavy lifting. It isn't a corporate setup. We’re just local farmers. We write down our accounts in simple notebooks and try to stay organized. It’s a way for us to survive and maybe have a little extra for our families. We aren't trying to be famous or anything. We just want to work the land that’s been in our families for a long time. If you come by Mandalsar, you’ll see us working. We don’t use fancy words or big promises. We just farm and try to get by.
