Agragami Mahila Kisan Producer Company Limited is located in Jamna village, over in the Khanpur area. We are based at Plot No. 937, which is near P.O. Dhrubabati in Labpur. Like other groups in Birbhum, we are focused on the women who work the land here. We saw that we could do much more if we combined our efforts. So, we started this company to handle our farming business together. It isn’t a fancy place with a lot of equipment. We just have a small room where we keep our records and meet to discuss the season. The soil around here is okay, but you have to work hard to get a good yield. We talk about what to plant and how to deal with pests. It’s a lot of shared knowledge. We don't have corporate experts; we just have our own experience from years in the fields. Sometimes we meet under a tree if the office is too hot. We manage the sales of our produce so that we don't have to rely on middlemen who take too much. It’s a practical way for the women here to have more control over their money. We just take it one day at a time, making sure the paperwork is done and the crops are moving. It’s a quiet but steady kind of work that keeps us all going. Even when the market is down, we find a way to make ends meet.
