Our school is located right in the heart of Bikaner, over at Acharyon Ka Chowk. It’s a very old part of the city, and the building we are in, Nathi Bhawan, has its own long history. The streets are very narrow and winding around here, so you can't really bring any big cars in easily. Most of the kids just walk here from the nearby houses every morning. It’s a very traditional neighborhood to live in. You can hear the bells ringing from the local temples and the general sound of people going about their daily business in the market. The school itself is quite cozy and a bit small. We don't have any huge sports fields or parks, so we just make do with the courtyard space we have. The rooms have very high ceilings which really helps with the desert heat. Bikaner gets incredibly hot in the summer, as everyone who lives here knows well. We spend a lot of time sitting on the porch during our breaks. The teachers are mostly like family to each other. Many of them actually grew up in this same neighborhood. We know the parents and even the grandparents of some of our current students. It’s a very close-knit community. We don't follow all the fancy new trends you see in the big city schools. We stick to the things that work for us. It’s a bit old-fashioned but we like it.
