M.J.D Convent School is sitting at 36 Gandhi Nagar in Bikaner. It’s a part of town that feels quite lived-in and comfortable. The school itself is a straightforward building with several floors and plenty of windows to let in the light. Living in Bikaner means we deal with a lot of sand and heat, so the school is designed to keep things as cool as possible during the peak summer months. We have a main gate that stays locked during class hours for safety. The staff here are mostly busy keeping things organized, from the register to the daily lunch breaks. You’ll find the younger kids on the lower floors and the older ones further up. We have a small area for sports where the children play games when the weather allows it. It’s not a huge place, so you can pretty much hear what’s happening in the next room if it gets too loud. Parents often stop by the office to talk about their children’s progress or pay fees. It feels like a neighborhood spot because most of the students live within a short distance. There’s a certain routine to the day, starting with the morning prayer and ending with everyone rushing out at the end of the day. It’s just a place where children come to study and grow up together in this part of Rajasthan. People here are friendly and we just keep things moving along.
