Our school is located out in Panchoo, right on Mdr 37. Being in the Bikaner district means we deal with a lot of heat and sand most of the year. The 334804 zip code is quite a quiet area compared to the main city. We have students coming in from several small villages around Panchu. Most of them arrive by bus or on bicycles. The building is a simple structure that stays relatively cool inside because of the thick walls. We have senior secondary classes, so the older students are often seen studying in the library or the common areas during their free periods. It’s a practical place. We focus on getting the lessons done. The staff room is usually where we sit and drink tea while grading papers or discussing the upcoming schedule. Outside, the ground is mostly dry, but we try to keep it tidy. Life here moves at a slower pace than in the big cities. We see the same faces every day, and everyone knows whose child belongs to which family. It makes for a very local atmosphere. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just have to open the windows and keep going with the lessons. It is just a normal school day for us here in the rural parts of Bikaner, keeping things running as they should be. We just keep our doors open for whoever wants to learn and study.
