About My Hope Public School – Education in Bikaner
Out in Lalamdesar Bara, which is a bit of a distance from the main center of Bikaner, you will find My Hope Public School. The area is quite open and can get very dusty when the wind picks up across the plains. We built the school here because there weren't many options for the families living in this part of the district. It is a simple, low-slung building that matches the landscape around it. We don't have much in the way of landscaping, just the dry ground and a few hardy plants that survive the heat. The classrooms have the basics—benches, a blackboard, and windows to let in the light. It gets very hot in the summer months, so we rely a lot on the ceiling fans and the thick walls to keep things bearable for the students. We are a small team here, and most of us have to do a bit of everything, from teaching to fixing a broken gate or cleaning up after a sandstorm. It’s a quiet life compared to the big city schools. Most of the children walk here from their homes nearby, often arriving with dusty shoes. We don't talk much about big goals or fancy plans; we just focus on the daily lessons and making sure the kids understand their math and Hindi. It’s a modest place that fits in with the way of life in Bikaner. We've been serving the local community here for a long time now and hope to continue.
