We call our company Krishi Kutumba, which basically means farming family, and that's exactly how we run things here in Halikhed. We are over in the Teachers Colony at Plot No. 1. It’s in the Humnabad area of Bidar. It’s a small office but it serves our purpose well enough. We are just a group of local people who want to make sure the farmers in our area get the support they need. We aren't a big business with a lot of money; we are just working with what we have. Most of our days are spent talking to members about their crops or helping them fill out forms for different things. Sometimes we have meetings where everyone talks at once, but we usually figure things out in the end. Farming around Humnabad has its own set of challenges, from the weather to the soil quality. We try to share what we know and help each other get through the tough patches. The name of the colony sounds official, but it’s just a regular neighborhood. We don't have a marketing department or anyone to write fancy things about us. We just do the work and hope it helps our families and the other farmers nearby. It’s about sticking together and making sure no one gets left behind when the market changes or the rain doesn't fall. It is simple, everyday work for us.
