Suresh Kumar Hair Salon

Suresh Kumar Hair Salon is over on Sihore Road in the Bairagarh area of Bhopal. If you know Bairagarh, you know it’s a place where everyone kind of knows everyone else. The salon is right on the main stretch of Sihore Road, so we see all the buses and bikes going past all day. I’ve had this shop for years now and the walls could probably tell a lot of stories if they could talk. It’s not a big fancy place with air conditioning or anything like that. We just have the big windows that we keep open to let the breeze in when it’s not too dusty outside. The wooden benches for waiting are a bit hard, but nobody seems to mind much since they’re usually busy talking to each other about the news. We do basic haircuts and shaves for the men around here. Bairagarh is a busy place, but we take our time with each person so they don't feel like they're being rushed out the door. My tools are old but I keep them sharp and clean. Sometimes I stay open a bit late if a regular customer comes in after their shift ends. It’s just how we do things on this side of Bhopal. There isn't any fancy marketing here, just a board outside with the name Suresh Kumar on it. It’s a steady job and I like the people I meet every day.
