Sun Palace Restaurant

Our restaurant is tucked inside the Hotel Sun Palace over in M P Nagar Road. If you know Subhash Nagar in Bhopal, you probably know where the railway crossing is. We are right across from that. You can hear the trains passing by quite often, which is just part of the atmosphere here. It’s not a quiet place, but it’s real. We have been serving food here for a while now. The kitchen is always busy, especially around lunchtime when the local workers come in. It’s a bit hot back there, but the cooks don't mind much. We don't have a big fancy menu with words you can't pronounce. It’s just regular food that we know how to make well. The tables are simple and we use plain plates. We focus on getting the salt right and making sure the tea is hot. Sometimes we run out of a certain dish if too many people order it, but that’s just how it goes with fresh cooking. The staff is mostly local guys who have been with us for years. The railway crossing can be a bit of a wait, but once you get across, we are right there waiting. We keep the fans on high because Bhopal can get really muggy in the summer months. There is always a stack of newspapers on the corner table for anyone who wants to read while they wait for their food. We aren't trying to be a five-star spot.
