Shivam Sweets

We have been running Shivam Sweets at 18, Jinshi Cross Road for quite some time. It is in the Jahangirabad area of Bhopal, which is always crowded. The shop is small and filled with trays of different sweets like laddus and barfis. We start early in the morning, around six, to get everything ready for the breakfast rush. People stop by for samosas and kachoris on their way to work. It gets very oily and hot near the frying kadhai, but that is part of the job. We don't use any fancy packaging, just the standard cardboard boxes with our name printed on them. Sometimes the printing is a bit blurry. The counter is usually sticky from the sugar syrup, even though we wipe it down. We have a few benches outside where people can stand and eat. It’s a noisy spot with all the traffic from Jinshi Cross Road right there. We don't really do advertising; the smell of the frying snacks usually brings people in. My family has been doing this for years, and we just keep the same recipes. Some days we sell out of the milk cake very fast. Other days it's slower. We just take it as it comes. It's a busy neighborhood and we are happy to be a part of it. We are just a regular sweet shop for the local folks.
