Selinaa Beauty Porler

Selinaa Beauty Porler is tucked away on the ground floor of Devi Apartment. We are on Peer Gate Road in Bhopal, right in the Peer Gate area. It’s a busy part of town, so there is always noise from the street coming in. The shop is small and cozy, which makes it feel a bit like a home. We have a few stations set up for hair and skin work. It’s mostly women from the apartments nearby who come to see us. We’ve got curtains up for privacy and a few shelves filled with bottles and jars. Sometimes we get a bit behind schedule because everyone wants to talk and share stories while they get their work done. The floor is tiled and we try to keep it clean, though hair seems to get everywhere by midday. Being in the ground floor of an apartment building means we get to know all the neighbors. We don’t have any big advertisements outside, just the name on the door. It’s been our workplace for years and we know the quirks of the plumbing and which light bulbs flickers sometimes. We just do our best to make people feel okay when they leave. It’s a simple life running a porler in Bhopal, and we like the rhythm of it. People know they can find us here from morning until evening most days of the week.
