Sawariya Salon

Sawariya Salon is at Shop No-2 in the Itwara area of Bhopal. Being in 462001 means we are right in the heart of the old parts of the city. The streets here are narrow and always full of people and scooters. Our shop is small, just one of the many units lined up along the street. It stays pretty dark inside unless we have all the lights on because the buildings are so close together. We have been working out of Shop No-2 for a while now. The walls have a few posters and the mirrors are a bit spotted, but they do the job. Bhopal has a specific feel to it, especially in Itwara, and our salon is just a tiny part of that. We mostly handle hair and beard work for the guys who live nearby. There is always the smell of tea and snacks from the nearby stalls floating in. We don't really have a lobby or anything, people just wait their turn on a bench. Sometimes we talk about the local news or just stay quiet while working. It’s a humble place, nothing like those big malls you see nowadays. We open the shutters early and close them late. Life moves slow inside the shop even if it’s fast outside. That’s how it is for us here at Itwara, just keeping things moving one day at a time. It's just a regular shop.
