Pooja Bhojnalaya

It’s been quite a while since we set up shop here in M P Nagar. If you know this part of Bhopal, especially around Zone-1, you know how crowded it gets near Vishal Mega Mart. Most days start pretty early for us. We’re usually here by seven or eight in the morning just to get the stoves going and the vegetables chopped. It’s not a fancy place, just a regular bhojnalaya where people come when they’re hungry after work or shopping. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we spend most of our time in the kitchen anyway. Sometimes the traffic outside gets so loud we can hardly hear the orders, but that’s just how it is in this part of town. We see a lot of students and office workers who are far from home and just want something that tastes like a normal meal. We don’t really have a big team, just a few of us making sure the dal is cooked right and the rotis are hot. There’s always someone coming in asking for directions to the mall or just looking for a quick bite before their bus. It’s a lot of work, and by evening, we’re all pretty tired, but then we just clean up and get ready to do it all over again the next day. It’s a simple life here in M P Nagar, just keeping the fire going and making sure there’s enough for everyone who walks through the door.
