Nayak Hair Saloon

Nayak Hair Saloon has been on Ashoka Garden Road for a good while now. Arera Colony is a busy part of Bhopal, especially in the evenings when people are coming home from work and the streets get crowded. It is just a small place. We have a few old chairs that have seen better days but they still work fine for what we need. Usually, it is just me and maybe one other person working here. We try to keep the mirrors clean and sweep the floor after every person, but hair gets everywhere. It gets dusty outside on the road so the front door stays shut mostly. People from around the neighborhood stop in without calling first. Sometimes there is a long wait, so they sit on the wooden bench and read the local paper or just talk. We do not have any fancy lights or neon signs. Just the regular white tubes. Bhopal weather gets very hot in the summer, so the ceiling fan is always on the highest setting. It is a simple spot to get your hair cut and nothing else. I have lived in this part of town my whole life. I know most of the faces that walk through that door. We do not do anything complicated here. If you want a trim or a shave, that is what we do. The scissors need sharpening every few weeks. We have a small radio playing sometimes but mostly it is just the sound of the clippers and the traffic outside.
