Jitendra Hair Cutting Saloon

If you go to the Main Market in Sonkachh, you will find us right on the Main Road. This is a small place in the Bhopal area where things move a bit slower. My name is Jitendra, and I have been running this hair cutting saloon for quite some time now. It is just a basic shop with the essentials. I have my scissors, my razors, and a few bottles of aftershave on the shelf. The walls have some old posters on them. Most of the men in the village come here. We talk about the crops or whatever is happening in the market that day. There is no appointment system or anything like that. You just come in and if the chair is empty, you sit down. If not, you wait outside on the wooden bench and watch the traffic go by on the main road. It can get quite dusty because of all the trucks passing through Sonatch, so I have to wipe down the mirrors quite often. It is honest work and it keeps the family going. I don't try to make it look like something it isn't. It's a place for a haircut and maybe a bit of gossip. That's about it. People know where to find me. Sometimes a cow wanders by the front door or a neighbor stops to ask a question. It's just how life is on the main road here. We keep the doors open all day.
