Jagadish Hair Cutting Saloon

Out here in Bhanpur, things move a little slower than in the middle of Bhopal. Jagadish Hair Cutting Saloon is located right on the Bidisha Road, so we get a lot of people who are traveling between cities. The road is often under repair or has trucks rumbling by at all hours. My shop has been here for a good while and the locals know me by name. I keep the shop open late most days because you never know when a driver might need a quick shave before heading further down the road. The interior is very basic. I have two chairs and a small wooden table for the combs and oils. The mirrors are a bit spotted with age, but you can still see what you need to see. Bhanpur is a growing area but it still feels like a village in many ways. Everyone knows everyone’s business. I spend my mornings watering the ground in front of the shop to keep the dust from the Bidisha Road from blowing inside. It’s a simple routine that I have followed for years. When the sun sets, the light inside isn't the brightest, but we manage. People come here because they know what to expect and they don't want anything too modern. Just a place to sit for a few minutes and get a clean cut before they get back to their day or their long drive through the night.
