We’ve been set up here on 80 Feet Road in Naveen Nagar for quite some time now. Bhopal is a city where everyone seems to know everyone else, and our little corner in Naveen Nagar is no different. The school day starts early, and we are usually there before the sun is fully up to get the gates unlocked. It’s a standard high secondary school, so we deal with everything from small kids to the older ones who are almost ready to head out into the world. The building itself is sturdy, though we are always fixing a leaky tap or painting over some scuffs on the walls. 80 Feet Road gets its fair share of traffic, so there’s a constant hum of engines in the background while we’re in the office. We don’t go in for anything too flashy; we just focus on the books and the classes. During the breaks, the playground is a bit of a madhouse, but that’s just how it goes with schools. We have a small staff and most of us have been working together for years. We know the local shops and where to get the best snacks during lunch. It’s a practical place to be, right in the heart of the community. Nothing too fancy, just a school doing its job every day. The walls are a bit old and the paint is peeling in some corners, but it works for us.
