Aasha Herbal Beauty Parlour

This parlour is in Bairagarh, over in the Sanjay Colony area of Bhopal. We are located near the Khada Ram Commity Hall, which most people around here use as a landmark. It’s a small place, but we’ve managed to fit everything we need into it. I spend most of my time here from morning until night. We focus on using herbal things when we can because that’s what people in the colony seem to like. It’s a lot of mixing and preparing stuff for the skin. The room usually smells like rose water or sandalwood. We have a lot of regular ladies who stop by just to chat as much as to get their work done. It’s a very local vibe. We don't have a big sign or bright neon lights. It’s just Aasha Herbal Beauty Parlour, written simply. Sometimes we run out of supplies and have to wait for the delivery guy to come through the narrow streets of Bairagarh. The furniture is a bit old but it’s sturdy and does the job. We keep the curtains drawn when needed for privacy. It feels more like a home than a business sometimes because we know everyone’s name and their kids’ names. We just keep working away, doing threading or hair oiling, and keeping the place as tidy as we can in such a busy neighborhood. It is a simple life but it keeps us connected to all the families who live on this side of the city.
