Working out at Plot No. 4-B in the Gidc Industrial Area of Dahej is quite an experience. It’s a bit of a trek for some of us coming from the Taluk Vagra side, but we’re used to it by now. At Basf India Ltd., the scale of things is pretty large, but our daily life is down-to-earth. We deal with industrial chemicals all day long. It’s often hot and dusty out here, especially when the wind picks up from the coast. We don’t spend our time in plush chairs; it’s more about being on the floor and making sure the machinery and the batches are moving like they should. We have a small canteen area where we sit and eat lunch, usually talking about the cricket score or some local news. It’s a very practical environment. We don't use big corporate words when we're talking to each other. We just focus on the safety protocols and the daily production targets. There are trucks coming and going at all hours, so there is always something to do. The industrial zone has its own rhythm, and we’ve become a part of it over the years. We aren't here to make grand statements about the future. We just put in our hours, do the job as best as we can, and head home to our families. It’s steady, honest work in a busy part of the state.
