Ghunghat is located on the third floor of building number 594 along SG Road. It’s a busy area with a lot of shops, so there’s always a lot of traffic and noise coming up from the street. Our space is up a few flights of stairs, which keeps us away from the main rush of the sidewalk traffic. We handle a lot of traditional wear, mostly focusing on items that people need for special family occasions or daily use. The room is filled with racks and boxes, and there’s always someone sorting through the latest arrivals from the suppliers. We don’t have a big sign out front or anything that screams for attention. Most people who come to see us already know where we are or have been told by someone else in the neighborhood. It’s a very straightforward operation. We spend our mornings checking the stock and the afternoons helping whoever comes through the door. The lighting inside isn't the best, but it's enough to see the patterns and colors of the fabric. We aren't trying to be a high-end boutique with polished floors and glass cases. It’s just a regular workplace where we deal with clothes. Sometimes the lift in the building doesn't work, so we end up carrying heavy bundles of cloth up the stairs ourselves. It’s just part of the daily routine. We’ve been at this for a while and don’t plan on changing how we do things. It’s just a practical business.
