Saravana Sweets

At Saravana Sweets, our day starts way before the sun comes up. We are located at HSR Layout 14, and by five in the morning, the kitchen is already warm. Making sweets is a messy business. There is milk boiling in big vats and sugar everywhere. You can't really avoid it. We’ve been in HSR for a few years now. The neighborhood has grown so fast, but we try to keep things feeling like a small shop. We don't use machines for everything. A lot of the work is still done by hand because that’s how we learned to do it. Our trays are filled fresh every morning. Sometimes by the afternoon, the shelves look a bit empty, but we just make more. The staff is like family. We eat our meals together in the back when things quiet down. Customers come in for a quick bite or to pick up boxes for festivals. We see a lot of happy faces, which is the best part of being here at number 14. The floor is usually a bit sticky by the end of the shift, no matter how much we mop. It’s just the nature of the work. We don't have any big marketing plans. People just know we're here and they come in when they have a craving for something sweet. We’re just happy to be part of the morning routine for so many people.
