About Rajashree Sweets – Food & Beverages in Bengaluru
Every morning starts very early here at Yelahanka New Town 1931/A. We have to get the milk and sugar ready before the sun is even up. Rajashree Sweets is known around this part of Yelahanka for the smell of frying dough and boiling syrup. The kitchen is in the back and it gets incredibly hot, especially during the summer months. We have big metal vats and long wooden spoons that we use to stir the mixtures for hours. Our front counter has rows of glass trays filled with different colors of sweets. Some of the edges on the trays are chipped, but they still hold everything fine. People stop by on their way to work to pick up a small box of snacks. We also have those spicy mixtures that people like to eat with their tea. The floor is always a bit sticky no matter how much we scrub it at night. We don't have fancy packaging, just simple cardboard boxes and some thin paper. Sometimes the traffic on the road outside gets so loud we have to shout to hear the customers. We’ve been here at 1931/A for years and have seen the town change a lot. The buildings nearby used to be much smaller. Now everything is tall and crowded. But inside our shop, things stay pretty much the same. We just keep making the batches as they run out and try to keep the flies away from the display glass.
