Naveen Boutique

If you are looking for us, we are right across from La Casa Restaurant, over in Kasavana Halli on the first floor. It is building number 2 and 3. The area has changed a lot lately with the college nearby, so there is always a lot of activity and noise on the street. Inside the boutique, you’ll usually hear the sound of the sewing machines going all afternoon. We have racks of clothes and piles of fabric sitting around on almost every surface. Some days it feels like there isn't enough space for all the thread and buttons we have collected. We spend a lot of time talking to people about how they want their clothes to fit and looking at different patterns. It’s a lot of measuring and marking things with chalk before we ever pick up the scissors. The stairs up to the first floor are a bit narrow and steep, but once you’re inside, it’s a bit more open. We try to keep things moving so people get their outfits back when they expect them, even when we are backed up with orders. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to wait a bit to use the irons, but that’s just how it goes in this part of town. We aren't doing anything fancy, just cutting and stitching and making sure the zippers work right. It’s a regular routine of pin-tucking and hemming. We usually have the radio on while we work.
