Mayur Collection

Mayur Collection is up here on the 2nd Floor. You have to walk through the crowd on Dickenson Avenue to find us. Chickpet is always like that, just packed with people and carts every single day. My family started this because we knew clothes, and we’ve stayed in this same spot for a long time now. The stairs up to the second floor can be a bit much if you’re carrying a lot of bags, but we don’t mind. Inside, it’s mostly just shelves full of stock. We spend a lot of time unpacking boxes and folding things back up after someone looks at them. It’s a lot of work to keep it organized, and sometimes we fail at that when it gets really busy. We don’t have a big fancy sign or anything, just the stuff we sell. Usually, there’s some music playing on a small radio in the corner to pass the time. Sometimes the lights flicker when the power gets a bit wonky, but we just keep going. It’s a local business, through and through. We know the other shop owners around 15/204 and we talk about the weather or how the market is doing. It’s not a corporate life, that’s for sure. We just open up in the morning, sweep the floor, and wait for the first person to walk in. Hope they like the new colors we just got in last Tuesday.
