Nathuram & Sons

Nathuram & Sons has been sitting on Lalbagh Road at number 78 for many years. This whole area is known for shops like ours, and we fit right in with the old-style buildings and the dusty streets. The shop itself feels like it belongs to a different time, with heavy wooden counters and shelves that go all the way up to the ceiling. We have all sorts of items tucked away in drawers and boxes, and if you ask for something specific, we usually know exactly which corner it is hiding in. It is a family-run kind of place, so you will often see a couple of us sitting behind the main desk, surrounded by ledgers and old pens. We don't use much fancy technology for our daily work; we prefer the way things have always been done here. The floor is made of old stone that has worn smooth over the decades. It gets quite hot in the summer because the building is old and doesn't have much ventilation, but we just keep the fans running and stay busy. People who come here usually know what they want, so we don't spend much time on small talk unless it is a regular we have known for twenty years. It is a bit cluttered and the lighting is dim, but it is honest work and we like the history of being on Lalbagh Road.
