Mataji Plates

Mataji Plates is located in the middle of Chickpet. We are at 35, A M Lane, just off BVK Iyangar Road. If you know Chickpet, you know how narrow the lanes are. Our shop is packed with stacks of plates, mostly paper and plastic ones for parties and events. There isn't much room to move around once the morning stock arrives. We spend the day climbing over boxes to get to the right size or pattern a customer wants. It’s a very busy place. The noise from the street is constant—horns, people shouting, and carts rattling by. We usually have a glass of tea sitting on a stack of napkins. The walls are lined with samples that have been there for years. BVK Iyangar Road is always a chaotic mess, but we like being in the center of it. We know most of the other traders around here. It gets very dusty, so we are always wiping down the top layers of the plates. We don't have a fancy showroom. It’s just a store filled with what people need for their functions. Sometimes the lights flicker when the main grid is struggling. We just keep going. It’s a small family-run feel. We’ve been at this Chickpet address for a long time and we don't plan on moving. Every festival season, the rush here gets completely wild.
