About Indus Cotton & Silks – Fashion & Trends in Bengaluru
The traffic on Lalbagh Road is something you just have to get used to if you work at No. 8, 2nd Cross. Here at Indus Cotton & Silks, we’ve heard the honking of cars and the rumble of buses as the soundtrack to our work for quite a while now. Being on the 2nd Cross gives us a tiny bit of distance from the main road noise, but not much. It’s a busy area for sure. Inside, we have stacks of cotton and rolls of silk that we’re always moving around. The smell of the fabric is the first thing you notice when you walk in. It’s a bit cramped because we try to keep as much stock as we can on the shelves. We spend our days measuring out lengths and checking the weave of the cloth. Sometimes the sunlight hits the silks just right through the front window and the colors really pop. The staff here has been around for a bit, so we all know the routine. We usually send someone out for coffee in the afternoon to keep us going. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting heavy bundles and organizing the racks. We aren't fancy people. We just like the feel of good fabric and the satisfaction of finishing a long day. Lalbagh Road is always changing, with new shops opening and old ones closing, but we stay busy with our threads and needles in this little spot at No. 8. It keeps us grounded and occupied.
