L & F Architect

We are up on the first floor at 109, 11th Main Road in Vasanth Nagar. L & F Architect is a small office, mostly filled with large tables, rolls of tracing paper, and a couple of computers that work most of the time. Architecture sounds like it's all about art, but for us, it's mostly about making sure the stairs aren't too steep and the windows are in the right place. We spend a lot of time drawing and then redrawing when a client changes their mind about the kitchen. It’s a lot of back and forth. Vasanth Nagar is a nice area to work in, though it gets pretty busy during the day. We don't have a receptionist or a fancy waiting room with expensive magazines. If you come by, you’ll probably find us hunched over a plan or arguing about a structural beam. We prefer it that way. It’s more about the actual building than looking professional for the sake of it. We’ve worked on various homes and small commercial spots around here. Sometimes the contractors don't follow the drawings exactly, which means we have to head out to the site and sort it out. It’s a bit of a headache, but that’s the job. We just try to design things that make sense for the people who actually have to live in them. It's a lot of late nights but seeing the walls go up makes it okay.
