Deepa And Jayesh Architects

Our little architecture practice is tucked away in Subraj Layout, Lakkasandra. It’s on the 7th Cross, right near 15th Main in Bangalore. It is a bit of a walk from the main road, but that makes it a quieter place to sit and draw. Deepa and Jayesh started this because we like building things that look right. We aren't some massive firm with a hundred interns. It is just a small team of us sitting around drafting tables and computers. The office is full of rolled-up blueprints and half-finished models made of cardboard. Sometimes the office dog gets in the way, or we run out of ink right when a deadline is hitting. We spend a lot of time out on construction sites, getting our shoes muddy and talking to the masons. That’s the real work, really. Sitting in the office is only half of it. We don’t use a lot of big words to describe what we do. We just try to make houses and buildings that don't fall apart and look decent. If a client wants something that won't work, we tell them straight. We’ve been in this spot in Bangalore for a while now. The neighbors know us as the people always carrying large rolls of paper. It’s a busy life, but we like the creative part of it. We keep things pretty informal around here and just focus on the drawings.
