Maya Architects

Our office is at No.535 in the Ngef Layout of Nagarbhavi, Bangalore. Specifically, we are on the 1st Stage, 3rd Cross. Being in Bangalore means we are always dealing with the local sounds of the city, but once you step into the office, things settle down a bit. We have big tables covered in blueprints and rolls of tracing paper. There are also quite a few computer screens showing 3D models and floor plans. We are a small team of architects and designers who just like building things that make sense. We don't talk much about visions or philosophy. Usually, our conversations are about where a wall should go or how to fit a staircase into a tight corner. The Nagarbhavi area is a good place to be based; it has a lot of character and we have worked on several projects nearby. Our shelves are sagging under the weight of material samples like tiles, wood blocks, and brick swatches. It can get a bit messy when we are in the middle of a big design phase, but we usually know where everything is. We spend a lot of time on site too, wearing dusty shoes and talking to contractors. It is a lot of back-and-forth between the drawing board and the actual construction. We keep it pretty low-key here. We are just local people who know how to put a building together properly and enjoy the process of seeing a sketch turn into a real structure.
