Kichukkhon

Kichukkhon sits over by Marathahalli, right near Mahakali Caves Road in the Jai Gurudev Society area. The name means "a little while," and that’s how we think of it. People come in, sit down for a bit, and then they’re off again. The society is usually quiet, but we get a lot of foot traffic from the main road. Our kitchen is fairly small, and we’re always trying to fit more ingredients onto the shelves. We cook mostly things that remind us of home, nothing too complicated. Sometimes the spices make everyone in the room sneeze, but nobody seems to mind much. We have these old wooden chairs that creak a little when you sit on them. We haven't bothered to replace them because they still work fine. The walls have a few marks here and there from moving furniture around. We don't have a fancy menu printed on thick paper; it’s just a list that we update when we need to. On weekends, it gets a bit chaotic with more families coming in, and we sometimes mix up the orders if we aren't careful. We just fix it and keep going. It’s a modest place. We aren't trying to be the most popular spot in Marathahalli. We just want to serve a meal and keep the place running for another day. Life is fast out there, but inside here, we try to keep things at a steady pace for everyone.
