Kashish Boutique

Running Kashish Boutique on Takker Street in Rabrindranath Tagore Nagar is a lot of work, but I’ve been at it for some time now. This street is always bustling with people looking for one thing or another. We are at number 2, which is quite easy to find once you get into the main part of RT Nagar. The shop isn't very large, so things tend to pile up near the back. I have rolls of material and different items scattered around, but I generally know where everything is. My day starts with sweeping the front and making sure the displays don't look too messy. The lighting inside is a bit yellow, but it makes the place feel cozy when it’s raining outside. I talk to a lot of people every day, mostly locals who live within walking distance. Sometimes they just come in to chat about the weather or the price of groceries. I don’t use any fancy computer systems here; I still write most things down in a big ledger book. The fan makes a bit of a clicking sound, but I’ve gotten used to it. It’s a honest way to spend the day, even if my feet hurt by the time I close up. I like the neighborhood because everyone knows everyone else. It’s a bit old-fashioned, but that suits me just fine. If you’re passing by Takker Street, you’ll probably see me sitting near the door.
